I always thought President Ford was a pretty cool guy. I did a report on him my freshman or sophomore year in high school. Some of his accomplishments (if I remember correctly) were:

• Was an Eagle Scout.
• Was from Grand Rapids, MI (which is where I happen to now live).
• Played Football, Boxed, and Swam while in high school and college.
• Turned down offers to play for both the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions in order to attend Law School.
• Was at one time a male model (not just a role model, but an actual model).
• Served as a Naval Aviator in World War II and was in active combat in the Pacific Theatre.
• Served on the Warren Commission investigating the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
• Served as Congressman, Vice President, and President of the United States.

Take note of those last three points. They all start with the word "Served".   Which is something that Gerald Ford believed was important. Serving others is something we should all try to do more of.

One of my favorite things about President Ford isn't a single one thing; but is rather the combination of his entire amazing life. He is proof that a good man, from humble beginnings, can accomplish anything provided he remains true to himself.

I'm quite sure that there will be a whole bunch of memorial postings today, so I'll leave off here. However I pointed out earlier that Gerald Ford was a male model; so I'll leave you with this fun treat.
